Jay's Bio
Jay E. Fernandez is a shareholder of the
Fernandez Law Firm, P.C. and heads up the Firm’s business
consulting services group. Jay’s primary areas of practice are:
business; corporate; employment; real estate; estate planning,
and criminal law. Jay graduated from the University of Colorado,
School of Law, where he was an associate editor of the Law
Review and class president. He has been advising Colorado
individuals and business for over 16 years. Jay is a graduate of
the University of Colorado, Boulder where he earned an
undergraduate degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in
astrogeophysics.

In addition to his passionate commitment to the law, Jay
is very active in the local and business communities. He
is a former chairman of the board of the Longmont Area
Chamber of Commerce, and is a current member of the
Colorado Supreme Court’s Board of Law Examiners. Jay
also has volunteered his services to numerous local
municipal, non-profit organization, and volunteer
organizations, such as the Longmont Council for the
Arts, Meals on Wheels, YMCA, Kiwanis, Rotary, Police
Professional Standards Unit, Longmont Small Business
Association, Longmont Senior Center, and the St. Vrain
Schools Task Force

Prior to becoming an attorney, Jay was an award winning chef,
deep sea diver in Alaska, conducted photo-conductor R&D at IBM,
and computer programmer. Jay is truly a “renaissance man.” He is
an avid cook, outdoor enthusiast, musician, and science lover.

Jay lives in Boulder with his wife of 28 years and his daughter.
